Photo by Mary Lloyd Estrin,1975.Previously in the Collection of James Seagram and Sons. Offered for sale at Phillips Auction House in NYC. Image is 12 inches by 8 inches to the mat. Frame is 16 inches by 20 inches.

Mary Kaplan collection, NYC..Columbia University Press published a book on the Kaplan family collection in 1981(The Alice M Kaplan Collection, cataloged by Linda Bantel and published by the Advisory Council of the Dept of Art History and Archaeology, Columbia University, 1981.Printed by the Steinhour Press,Distributed by Columbia University Press.).The collection includes museum quality paintings and drawings by Edgar Degas, Egon Schiele, Ammi Phillips. Giorgio Morandi and John Peto, as well as other 20th century masters. Mary Kaplan is the daughter of Alice Kaplan.

(Source:ploughshares.org)Mary was program officer of the Human Rights and Economic Justice program at the General Service Foundation, where she focused on support for those most affected by increasing inequity in the US and our fractured economic system, and served as vice-chair of the John M. Lloyd Foundation, which supports efforts to end mass incarceration in Los Angeles County.

Mary also served on the steering committee of the Labor and Community Working Group of the Neighborhood Funders Network, and on the Advisory Committee of the LIFT Fund. She has also served as a trustee of Vassar College, as Board Chair of the Wildwood School, and on local community boards.

A photographer for 15 years, she was the author of To the Manor Born, a social documentary book from the other side.
