This cotton 1870's/1880's mosaic/target/honeycomb quilt is hand pieced and hand quilted, with thousands of tiny hexagon pieces that measure 1/2" per side. The quilt measures 68" X 78" and is in very good condition, with the occasional small age spot and no wear. The quilting is excellent, with quilting around the piecework and in close straight line and feathered designs in the border, all at an even 10-12 stitches to the inch. The back is the same tan color used in the interior and the batting is thin. You can see cotton seed residue inside when you hold the quilt up to the light. Hand written provenance is included: "Job's trouble, Grandma Strawser's mother -- Great Grandma Snyder made it; my mother's great grandmother." The quilt was found in Richmond, Indiana.
