Harry J. Tuthill's "The Bungle Family", 3 Large Comic Strips, Original Artwork

Three oversized comic strips of the American comic strip, "The Bungle Family". Originally created by Harry J. Tuthill in 1918. An American comic, originally titled "Home, Sweet Home". The strip focused on the Bungles and followed their comedic daily troubles. The second strip is very good. The first and third strips are toned with uneven soiling, dampstaining, and some adhesive residue.

1. September 27, 1936. Measures 21.5" x 5.25". Distributed by McNaught Syndicate. The lower half of the full strip, in which father George Bungle has an "icy" nightmare.

2. July 14, 1936. Measures 21.5" x 5.25" (sight), matted to the overall size of 25.25" x 9". Distributed by McNaught Syndicate. Titled "Home Again", with a descriptive panel reading, "An Anonymous postcard describing rents due, so clearly indicated the existence of a real live landlord, that Sibyl was not surprised when the alleged victim of a high-handed canal crime walked into his home."

3. Undated. Measures 22.75" x 4.25". Distributed by McNaught Syndicate. Titled "Another Neighborly Problem", showing rain ruining the "Little Brother Ball Team" game.

"The Bungle Family" first appeared in the New York Evening Mail in 1918 and ran until June 2, 1945. The strip became a popular domestic comedy and was praised for its realistic dialogue and circumstances. The patriarch of the family, the long-suffering George Bungle, frequently embodied the frustrations and successes of the common man during the Jazz Age and through the Depression.
