Description
A 19th C English decorative framed hand-embroidered sampler. Including the first and fifth verses of the hymn The Tolling Bell in black lettering at the top with roses and vines separating the script from the scene below. In the lower portion is a red house next to a windmill; a mother and child; a sheep, goat, dog, and cow in the front yard; angels in the sky; and a gated country church. The border with pink flowers and vines. Dated 1845 by Alice Ball: "Alice Ball / Her Work / Aged 11 Years / 1845" in the same black lettering. Set in wood frame.
