The American Indian are taught fundamentals of work with clay art and using the ancient traditional hand methods at a young age.Once the pot is formed, it is set out to dry and paints are made from plants, such as spinach which makes a black color, and uses yucca stems for a paint brush and flowers for color. When the pot is fully dry, it is hand sanded to a smooth finish then, hand painted.
