Item Details
Description
This is a handsome antique estate found traditional Japanese woodblock print dating to around the turn of the century. The textile print features saturated colors with a charming leaf and berries motif on an olive green background. This print came to us from the Upstate New York estate and personal collection of Roland Hummel. Hummel was an RPI engineering professor, famous for his collaboration with the important American sculptor, George Rickey. Professor Hummel designed and fabricated the engineering components of Rickey's kinetic sculptures. Though unsigned, the matting exhibits a gallery tag indicating approximate date of the print. Hinged within matting. - The matting measures 21" x 16" with an interior view of 14" x 9 5/8". The print paper is 14 1/2" x 10".
Condition
In overall very good condition with three small tears just inside the left side border. There is a scuff to the right side below the black and white colored leaf at just about the middle line of the print. This condition is consistent with age and use.
