Japanese School, oil on canvas, c. 1930, Japanese School (20th c.), Market Scene with Dogs and Monkeys, signed in Japanese lower right, in period frame, 24"h x 34"w (image), 32"h x 42" (frame)
Provenance: Furnishings from the Estate of Barbara Allen de Kwiatkowski, a Parish-Hadley Commission
Notes/Literature: Model, socialite, and Andy Warhol protege, Barbara Allen de Kwiatkowski, made her name as a young editor at Interview Magazine and as a popular subject of the Society pages. Later marrying German industrialist and polo champion Henryk de Kwiatkowski, they built a Connecticut country estate and stables, designed by architect Alan Wanzenberg and decorated by legendary interior designers Sister Parish and Albert Haley
