Item Details
Description
Second half 19th century, 186 x 122 cm, Central Anatolia, Konya region

The prayer rugs of Innice are a comparatively rare and highly homogenous group. Their wide red mihrab field is always undecorated except for double hooks projecting inwards from the border. Two flowering tulip trees stand in the green area above the stepped arch, and the horizontal panel above it is embellished with long-stemmed tulips, similar to Ladik prayer rugs. The border design of squares decorated with arrows as well as hook devices on a maize-coloured ground is identical in all examples. – Repiled lower right corner, a number of repaired areas, original selvedges, remnants of the kilim finishes survive at both ends.
