Description
Dated 1293 = 1877, 352 x 130 cm, East Caucasus
This rare Shirvan is woven in a long format in a design emphasising the border. Similar to many Talish rugs, the midnight blue met hane field is an empty space except for small halved polygons projecting inwards from the sides. The date, \"1293\"" placed right at the centre of the field, is therefore all the more conspicuous. – Several repiled sections in the field, both end finishes restored.
TSCHEBULL, RAOUL E., Qarajeh to Quba. Rugs and Flatweaves from East Azarbayjan and the Transcaucasus. London 2019, no. 51 *** HERRMANN, EBERHART, Seltene Orientteppiche VI. Munich 1984, no. 33"
