Mr. Reiss' first Blackfeet portraits were executed in the winter of 1919, at which time he was inducted into the tribe and given the name Beaver Child. He frequently has returned to the reservation, or to Glacial National Park, during the summer, for additional portraits, which now number in the hundreds.
