Description
Theodore Roosevelt Letter Signed. One page, 7.75" x 10.5" (sight), the White House; March 17, 1906. Addressed to the Crown Prince of Greece on White House stationery, he writes about the upcoming Olympic Games in Greece. It reads in part: "The Government of His Majesty the King of Greece...having extended an invitation, through his Consul General at New York, to the Government of the United States to be officially represented at the Olympic Games at Athens in 1906, it has given me pleasure to designate Mr. James E. Sullivan, a prominent athlete of this country as the Commissioner of the United States to said Games." Signed, "Theodore Roosevelt." Matted and framed with a black and white photograph of Roosevelt to an overall size of 19" x 16.25". Condition: Letter has separated along the integral fold. It is rubbed and toned with two closed tears. With smoothed creases.
