STAMPED "COWDEN & WILCOX / HARRISBURG. PA", PENNSYLVANIA DECORATED STONEWARE JAR, salt-glazed, approximately one-gallon capacity, shouldered, cylindrical form with flat-top rim having an inner seat, spaced shoulder bead and incised ring, Albany-slip glazed interior. Brushed cobalt spitting tulip decoration to front, additional cobalt across stamp. 1863-1880. 9 3/4" H, 6 1/2" D rim.
Rim with shallow chip to outer edge at back and small chip to interior, several very minor flakes to inner seat, interior with residue.
Provenance: From the collection of Nick Routson, Phoenix, AZ.
