CLARK CO., OHIO SIGNED AND DATED JACQUARD COVERLET, dark blue wool and natural cotton, two joined panels, center featuring repeated compass and rose motif pattern, three sides with bird and tree inner border, an eight-point star outer border, and fringe, top edge with later applied hanging sleeve. Bottom corners signed "MADE BY / J WIRICK / AT MIDWAY / CLARK CO / OHIO 1849 / FOR / LOUISA / COFFMAN". John Wirick, Midway (now Medway), Clark Co. and St. Paris, Champaign Co., OH. Dated 1849. 94" x 81" with fringe.
Very good overall condition with scattered stains, spotting, and toning, top edge rolled and mended, some losses to wool fringe, center seam with possible mending.
