Description
Five Asian style, possibly Chinese hats. A) 19.5" diameter, 9" high at tall point, constructed of equivalent of palm leaf fibre; 21" diam, 8" tall, more delicate construction with broad top with pyramid, some damage to this area., same material; 14" diam, 8" tall, broad circular top, less intricate than last, but better construction along base; 20" diam, 9" tall, single high point similar to a cone shape, damage at top. This hat appears older than the rest, made with three different materials, a red-brown much like bracken fern, a palm leaf- like material, and a lighter colored material, possibly bamboo. some damage to rim. The last hat about 20" diam, 6" tall with a broadly sloping top leading to a single top. The palm material has been lacquered. These hats are very reminiscent of our Chinese heritage in the West, particularly California and Nevada.
