English, 18th century. Walnut Georgian fireplace pole screen having an adjustable needlework panel depicting a musician playing for a dog, rising on cabriole legs. Unmarked. Provenance: From the Lifetime Collection of Billy S. Arant, Jr., Chattanooga, TN. Approx. h. 57", w. 21".

Condition

Darkening and losses to needlework; shredding and staining to back; dents to pole with previous repairs to stand commensurate with age and use.
