1652 Oak Tree Shilling, IN at Bottom Type, Noe-7, Reverse Die State-G, Very Fine.
71.0 grns (about 4.58 grams). Rarity 5. This scarce 1652 Massachusetts Oak Tree Shilling has clear details, likely cleaned long-ago. This late die state is illustrated in Noe on page 131, plate 11, as Reverse Die State-G. This late advanced die state being typical of Noe-7, struck from a re-engraved obverse die. The reverse has distinctive die breaks which are easily seen, as made. The central Oak Tree is sharp and clear for the variety and die state. At 71 grns its weight is correct based on the 72 grains standard for official weight.
