Description: ·Cypress trees are evergreens, and are a commonly used motif in art in Asia Minor. The cypress is depicted as a variation of the tree of life motif ,which represents everlasting life.The cypress is used in rituals with the dead, but symbolizes the eternal life that comes after death. The cypress was the most popular tree used in Persian gardens, and accordingly, was represented in garden carpets. from mid 19th century to early 20th century production of Keshan rugs was shifted to high quality by coming Mohtashem workshop come to the picture. Mohtashem started to produced the finest qulaity of Mohtashen Keshan rugs, and other weavers, also follow up the trend by producing good quality of wool , and silk Keshan. Of course, Mohtahem was in a totally different class and they still holding the top price in antique rugs in today's market. The newest Mohtashem could be between 90 -100 years old. The one that I am offering here, is not a Mohtashem but quality wise is very close. This rug is made of 100 silk pile on silk foundation , with amazing multi color combination , absolutely phenomenal , well balanced and harmonized. If you are carioua about teh quality, please, refer to the pictures & view those that shows the back of the whole rug and the one that shows the knot count. As far as the condition goes, this rug could be used exactly as is, for some reason it has become like a sculpture or Souf, all all flowers are raised from the surface probable by 1/8 of an inch. It does not show any wear in the flowers. It measures 4'-2" x 6'-5". This rug also, could be used as a hanging piece of the wall.
