& LEATHER ACCOUTREMENTS. 1) US M1858 cartridge box w/ brass oval plate on the front. Interior has 2 tin liners. Both bottom buckles are intact. Leather closing tab is solid. CONDITION: box is quite dirty & seams have begun to split. 2-3) 2 US M1864 cartridge boxes w/ embossed “US” oval on the front. 1 Has interior tin liners, 1 does not. Both have buckles on the bottom & a solid closing tab. CONDITION: 1 has light wear, 1 has moderate wear. 4) US M1858 cartridge box. Both buckles are on the bottom. CONDITION: no front plate. Box’s seams have deteriorated & the box is falling apart. 5) US Colt Army holster. The front flap has an illegible maker’s mark. Loop on the back is solid. Belt loop is stamped “GAYLORD CHICOPEE MASS”. CONDITION: holster shows moderate to heavy use. Securing thong is missing. 6-8) 3 Carbine cuffs. Both cuffs are complete. CONDITION: light wear. 9) Infantry belt & buckle. Buckle has spade hooks. CONDITION: buckle has a dark patina. Leather is in relic condition. 10-19) 10 Civil War cap boxes. Most cap boxes are maker marked. 8 Have both straps intact on the back, 2 do not. CONDITION: most cap boxes show light wear. A couple show moderate wear & 2 show heavy wear. 20) Civil War carbine box w/ inspector’s stamp on the front. All flaps, loops & securing thong are intact. CONDITION: light wear overall. 21) Civil War carbine box. All flaps, loops & securing thong are intact. CONDITION: very heavy wear. 22-28) 7 Civil War or Indian War militia cartridge boxes of various sizes & design. Most have a plate on the front. CONDITION: varies from light to heavy wear. 1 Cartridge box has its flap detached. 29) Civil War pistol box. Inspector’s stamp on the front. Loops & securing thong are intact. CONDITION: light wear. 30) Cavalry carbine sling, belt & buckle. Swivel is marked, “O.B. NORTH & CO NEW HAVEN-CT”. Buckle & belt tip are brass. CONDITION: light to moderate wear. 31) Cavalry carbine sling. Swivel is unmarked. Buckle & tip are missing. CONDITION: light to moderate wear. 32) Indian War haversack. Body of haversack has a pebbled finish w/ “US” in oval embossed on the front flap. 3 Closing straps & over the shoulder strap. CONDITION: bag shows light wear. Straps show moderate wear.
