Rome, Imperial Period, ca. 1st to 4th century CE. A solid, cast bronze ram's head rendered in profile with finely delineated features: spiraled horns, almond-shaped eyes, projecting ears, furry coat, and a prominent snout. This piece, most likely used to decorate furniture, highlights the importance of animals in the Roman world. A lovely piece with beautiful patina of attractive green hues. Size: 1.125" W x .7" H (2.9 cm x 1.8 cm)
