Large Hand Painted Nippon Baluster Vase, late 19th c., the heavy gilt decorated indented shoulders over a landscape reserve, on an integral socle base with relief Greek Key decoration, H.- 16 in., Dia.- 8 in. Provenance: Property from the Collection Of Nicholas Burke (1834-1905), located at 5809 St. Charles Ave. (The Wedding Cake House), and thence by descent to present consignor. Note: Burke was president of the Nicholas Burke Company, a Retail Grocer and one of the founders of Hibernia National Bank in New Orleans, Louisiana.
