2nd century AD. A bronze plate brooch in the shape of an eight-armed whorl, each with openwork section; pin lug and catchplate to reverse. Cf. Hattatt, R., Ancient Brooches and Other Artefacts, Oxford, 1989, item 1626, for type. 6.4 grams, 33mm (1 1/4"). The property of a UK collector; acquired in the early 1990s. [No Reserve]
