Description
England, ca. 19th century. Rare and possibly unique Sheffield silver-plated banquet ice tray chased with scenes of polar exploration with depictions of of icebergs, sailing ships, seal hunting, and other vignettes. The vessel was likely designed to complement a punchbowl or drink dispenser, taking a place of prominence given the luxury status of ice in the nineteenth century.
