Description
Two lovely vintage Norah Wellings Dolls
One is vintage Norah Wellings "SS. Cayuga" cloth jolly boy sailor doll.
Measures approx. 7 3/4" tall, has the tag on the bottom of the foot reading Made in England by Norah Wellings. The hat reads R"SS. Cayuga".
This has some soiling, but in general, is in good condition. Almost perfect for the age
The other doll is military aircrew man doll.
Measures approx. 10 3/4" tall, has the tag on the bottom of the foot reading Made in England by Norah Wellings.
This has some soiling, as well as, some rips on the foot and on the hand. Please refer to the pictures.
These are rare cloth dolls made in 1930s in England.
They will benefit from some cleaning.
I didn't attempt to clean the dolls. The antique cloth/rag dolls are very fragile and require expert cleaning.
I am sure that in the right hands these dolls will flourish.

Norah Wellings was from Shropshire, England. She was the main doll designer at Chad Valley Dolls from 1919 to 1926, when she left to form her own doll company with her brother Leonard. The resulting company was the Victoria Toy Works, located in Wellington, United Kingdom.
All the dolls produced here were from various types of cloth.
Norah Wellings Ship Souvenirs: Some collectors of both dolls and cruise ship memorabilia collect Norah Wellings Sailor dolls, with particular attention paid to the ship which is indicated on the rim of the sailor hat
Years of Production of Norah Wellings Dolls: Norah started producing dolls through her own company in 1926, and the dolls were produced until the factory was closed in 1959 (although the dolls were available into the early 1960s). The vast majority of the production of the Victoria Toy Works factory was in the 1930s and 1940s.
