Description
VIENNESE ENAMELED PEDESTAL OPEN SALT, round well with lobed rim and sides, raised on a stemmed pedestal base with center knop, all-over enameling featuring Classical figures in landscape settings and foliate motifs. Stem marked in two places with "A" assay hallmarks for Vienna, Austria and "RL" maker's marks in rectangular cartouches possibly for Rudolf Linke, unknown metal content. Circa 1870. 3 1/2" HOA, 3" DOA rim.
Very good overall condition with some wear, minor surface scratches, and scattered flakes and worn spots to enamel mostly along rim and a small chip in base of well, a few spots of very slight separation of applied rim metal possibly as made.
