Description
A very unusual Baroque tabernacle or collector’s cabinet on stand, in walnut and other woods, extensive inlaid decoration, ebonized elements etc., with twist-form legs and column supports, the central tabernacle is mirror lined and has faux marble painted columns with an inlaid checkerboard surface behind a tombstone-form glazed door, retaining its original lock and key. The tabernacle is flanked by 13 small drawers, each with inlaid decoration. The top has a lidded cabinet the lower table has a pair of drawers in the apron and spiral column-form legs with carved Corinthian ebonized capitals and a lower inlaid stretcher. Possibly Flemish or Southern German, circa 1750. 47" w x 29" d x 67"h
