A cased pair of English gentleman's pistols London, early 19th century
(H: 3 in. W: 9 in. L: 18 1/2 in. (case), L: 14 1/2 in. (pistols), L: 8 1/2 in. (barrel length))
Manufactured in percussion, walnut half stocks in early “Saw Handle” form with finely checkered grips, the locks are engraved "Vallée/ Chaplain," and show an early percussion design style with extensive engraving also found on all of the silver furniture, sliding safety behind each hammer; the 3/4 inch octagonal barrels with a double brass inlaid line at the breech and retain original Damascus brown finish, and under rib for the original ramrods engraved "London," smooth bore; mahogany case retaining original felt lining and accessories: cleaning rods, bullet mold, powder flask, and others.
