Description
Interesting rare synopses of two compositions from George Caleb Bingham's 'Election Series' painted in Arrow Rock, Missouri around 1847. The paintings 'Stump Speaking' and 'County Election' are dissected by a Mr. J. E. Spencer of St. Louis, Missouri (formerly Marshall, Missouri) who identifies many of the principal figures in these complex compositions. The larger image is an actual mounted photograph of Stump Speaking, the smaller is a mechanical reproduction of The County Election. Both are mounted and the notations were made in ink with a fountain pen on August 15, 1912.
