Small Chinese Qing/Republic prunus ginger jar

Item Details

Description

A deep cobalt blue ginger jar that has been hand painted with a design of prunus (cherry) branches and flowers. A thickly potted porcelain jar with a glazed mouth. The glaze is thick and the white has a slight bluish cast. There is good glaze control as the glaze stops just above the cut, unglazed foot ring. The cobalt used is a nice deep color. You can see the brush strokes in the cobalt on the jar. There is a dentate ring around the mouth and two ring circles on the base. The jar is missing its lid. The jar has a glazed base The foot rests nice and flat on a surface. There are no marks or labels. MEASUREMENTS 5” (12.7 cm) diameter x 4 ¾” (12.1 cm) tall. Weighs 1 lb 2.4 oz (520 g) CONDITION There are no cracks, chips or breaks. There are kiln flaws such as pinholes and black spots. A nice blue and white piece that lends strong character and age to your home décor. The cobalt has a nice rich color. It will look great surrounded by like pieces.
