A finely hand painted piece of Chinese porcelain with an early willow ware pattern. A heavy porcelain serving dish painted with under glaze cobalt in a design of a village near the water with hills, a bridge, trees, and figures. The painting is fine and accurately rendered. The mouth has the typical Nanking pattern. One end of the dish has a fan like tail and on the opposite end is a shallow indent. The dish has a raised unglazed foot and a glazed base The glaze has an orange peel finish. There are no marks or labels. MEASUREMENTS 10 ½” (26.7 cm) long x 9 ½” (24.1 cm) wide x 1 7/8” (4.8 cm) deep. Weighs 2 lb 0.6 oz (925 g) CONDITION There is a chip on the underside of the fan tail end. There are a couple of glaze chips on the mouth rim. There are no other chips, cracks, or breaks, and the bowl rings true. There are shallow wear scratches in the central well form usage. They aren’t profuse and don’t distract. A large decorative bowl with fine detail and paintings. The bowl will make a great addition to a collection or to a décor with blue and white porcelain.
