Description
Colorful, hand potted, hand painted, intricate Japanese porcelain dish with floral arrangements and Japanese fabric designs. A round heavy porcelain plate with alternating panels of rocks and flowers and underglaze cobalt and gilt fabric designs. They are bordered by scallop and fern designs. The designs are painted with iron red, gray, green, and gold over glaze enamels. Black is used to accent and outline. The central medallion is an abstract design of a wheel with scrolling, painted in under glaze cobalt with gold accents. The underside of the plate has cobalt designs and cobalt rings above the foot. The foot is unglazed but the base is glazed. The rim edge is gilded. MEASUREMENTS 7 3/8” (18.7 cm) diameter x 1 ¼” (3.2 cm) tall. Weighs 13.2 oz (370 g) CONDITION There are no chips, cracks, or breaks. The plate rings true. There is wear to the plate center. There are kiln flaws such as black dots, pimples, reserves and gilding wear to the plate surface. The glazes look fresh and bright.
