Description
Olga Popoff Muller (American, 1883-1980) for Decorative Arts League, New York City, USA. Pair of bronze bookends decorated in low relief with a scene of former American president Abraham Lincoln seated on an armchair reading a book with his youngest son. The composition is based off of a 1864 photograph by Matthew Brady (1822-1896). Artist initialled and dated 1922 along the lower left. With label that reads "'Lincoln Book End' (Patent Applied For) Produced Exclusively By Decorative Arts League 175 Fifth Avenue New York, N.Y." affixed to the verso of each.
