Description
Western Europe, Germany, ca. 1801 to 1860 CE. A very handsome percussion pistol with a wooden stock and steel barrel with engraved foliate motifs on the fittings. The octagonal barrel features rifling grooves on the muzzle and a "2" engraved on the top next to the hammer. The lock plate is stamped with "A. ROSEN IN DYCK." Opposite the lock plate are two eagles inlaid in the wood stock. The trigger is protected by a curving guard with finger rest. The wooden stock is decorated with incised cross hatched lines and an ovoid butt with relief carved leaves. The butt is caped with an iron plate with an engraved flower. Size: 18.5" L x 1.675" W (47 cm x 4.3 cm)

Condition
Abrasions and chips to wood. Pitting and abrasions to metal areas. Wood is not original, but it is an old replacement. Nice patina on wood and metal. Gun has not been tested for firing functionality.
