Description
Pair of signed 19th century Italian candlesticks with Bacchanal heads atop tapered stems and round plinth bases with leaf borders. Stamp of the Stato Pontificio (Papal state: Roma/Rome) representing a silver purity of 889/1000 and dated 1815-1870; with a maker's mark in a lozenge form frame most probably signifying Giannotti Angelo (1824-1865). Total approx. weight is 17.97 troy oz (gross). From an E 66th St, Manhattan estate. Dimensions: candlesticks measure approx. 5.125" in diameter x 11.75" h.
Condition
Good, with light surface scratches and minor dings/dents. Screw base of one bobeche probably replaced. One base slightly out-of-round. Split to the edge of one bobeche.
