in our opinion 18thC. or earlier, finely painted with many elements of religious symbolism include from left to right: the Annunciation angel Gabriel with salutation banner reading "Ave Maria Gratia Plena Dominus" (Hail Mary full of grace…), his robe decorated in fleur-de-lis emblems symbolizing the purity of Mary, as well as the potted lily sitting by his side, the center panel reflecting the Adoration of the Magi, and the right panel depicting Mary with symbols of the church and likely books of hours, she holds a single star perhaps signifying the star of Bethlehem, the whole housed in a Gothic Revival giltwood frame, center panel 16.5x14in., side panels each 16.5x6.75in., overall framed 27x32.25in. Condition: Craquelure throughout, minor paint losses, one loose nail verso, a hint of cloth and gesso cover observed to back board, the frame with old repair to base of one finial, wood split to the back of another finial, some giltwood cracks / separations, some insect damage to backside wood, typical rubs and wear
