Description
Rare Mamluk 15th Century Egyptian elaborately Incised Bronze Bowl inlaid with silver and traces of gold in traditional 'Veneto-Saracenic' Designs. Height 2 1/4 inches (5.7 cm.) X width 4 7/8 inches (12.3 cm.). NOTE: Originally believed to come from either Venice or the Middle East, it is now accepted that these distinctive luxury metal-work pieces were export merchandise from Mamluk Egypt in the 15th Century and rare examples of the trade between Renaissance Europe and the Islamic World.
Condition
Age related wear to decorated surfaces and polish to inside and outside of bowl, wear to both silver inlay and to gold.
