Description
***Auction Highlight*** 1904-p Morgan Dollar $1 Graded ms64 DMPL By SEGS. HIGHLIGHT OF THE ENTIRE AUCTION - As dollar collectors know, the 1904 is a challenging issue to locate in high grades. With proof like fields it is exceptionally difficult, and with Deep Mirror Proof Like Fields, Near impossible. To date there are only 3 Examples certified as such. One is the Jack Lee Example, which is in an old Green PCGS holder and the coin in my opinion would not rise to today's standards of DMPL, which is why it is still in the Green Holder, the second is an ms64 DMPL with a noticeable and distracting gouge on the face and the coin at hand, the Lone SEGS graded 1904, in ms64 DMPL. While the usual criticisms of the 1904, such as poor strike and luster, are generally applicable, for this coin, certain of them are off-base. While this faintly gray-silver piece does show modest contrast, a common complaint, the central detail is outstanding and breaks every expectation. The mirrors are powerful, and while a handful of wispy flaws preclude Gem status, the overall eye appeal is grand. I have included pictures of the only other two DMPL examples for your comparison. The ms64 DMPL last came to auction in 2008 and realized $54,625, and the Jack lee last came to auction in 2009 and realized $54,625. Our example has not seen the light of day in over 20 years having been long held in a private collection...Until Today. I wish you Luck. A Corey's Pick, Bid to Win, Don't let it get Away, you might not find its equal Coin. I give this coin my highest recommendation
