James Desvarreux-Larpenteur (1847 - 1937) oil on canvas painting depicting a pastoral scene with four cows and a man on the far right. The painting is signed "J. D. Larpenteur" lower right, partially covered by the edge of the frame. The large gilded frame appears to be original. Condition: the painting has been restored relatively recently and may have been re-lined, minor expected craquelure to the oils in areas, small flake to paint in the lower right corner, a few inches above signature, no apparent in-painting, frame have the usual small flakes and losses to the far edges, nothing that drastically affects the appearance, see images. Measures: (sight) 23" tall x 33" wide, and (frame) 32.5" tall x 42.25" wide. Weight: 19.5 lbs.
