Description
Piece with an unmatched appearance! In good condition.
The mask was held high during initiation rituals, so it towered above the masses.
The item is in good condition, with slight traces of tribal use.
The mask has a beautiful full raffia collar around it, which is still intact.
There is a nice white kaolin clay layer on the face with some Tukula red and blue pigment. This is a fine and rare mask of the Nkanu, a sub group of DRC’s Yaka People. Of bulbous form and brightly painted the mask is remarkable in presence.
