Description
Ray Bolger and Bert Lahr (1895-1967) Actors. Lahr first performed in burlesque and vaudeville, where he became known for his morose facial expression. After his Broadway debut in Harry Delmar's Revels, he appeared in numerous Broadway shows, in films, and on television. His performance in Waiting for Godot in 1956 is considered the high point of his career, but he is probably best remembered as the Cowardly Lion in the film The Wizard of Oz, co-starring with Bolger. 6" x 9 ¼" cut magazine advertisement for the play Life Begins at 8.40, which starred Bolger and Lahr, signed by both. Includes the original Playbill, Winter Garden Theatre and a ticket stub from the December 1, 1934 performance.
