Variety of Non-European Arts and Cultures

The focus of this auction is the diverse and varied arts and crafts of India, East Asia and beyond. Amongst the highlights are a superb Mughal necklace with rubies, diamonds and pearls, and a miniature painting, from India and featuring a maharaja attended by a young courtier. There are also a number of high-quality Tibetan works, such as a gilt bronze figure of Ushnishavijaya, a buddha of longevity, and a fantastic stone figure of a medicine Buddha dating from the 17th/18th century, and still bearing traces of its original paint. The collection is rounded out by a variety of tribal art, including a bronze ceremonial mask from the Benin people of Nigeria. The auction is a superb ethnographic collection of art from cultures around the world.
