Hudson Valley Auctioneers caps off 2016 with it's final sale and will continue the company's current format and conduct a two session multi estate auction of fresh to the market estate and consigned lots Monday April November .
The sale includes several partial contents from Westchester Counties, NYC and environs as well as items from a large Tuxedo Park mansion.
Starting with a collection Asian items including carved jade, amber, textiles, fine porcelains, carvings, artworks and other artifacts followed by a group of bronzes and Art Deco items including a rare Frankart lamp. Thirty lots of a diverse offering of artworks will run the gamut from 18th century portraiture to Icarts, Ertes and Tomayo's.
The issue of how many fine crystal and brass chandeliers could we possibly offer in a single auction was almost as difficult an issue as strategizing how to offer thirty or so fine lamp bases and the result is many will be sold throughout both of the night's sessions.
A Somers NY estate contributed a fine collection of miniature portraiture and after more bronzes and clocks the gallery will offer several monumental oils by William Rose. A National Academy of Design winner, all seem to have been exhibited but rarely if ever offered for sale as no auction records seem to exist.
Mid and early century design pieces are mixed throughout both sessions and include items such as two sets of Galle inlaid nesting tables, a period Womb chair and ottoman and "Falcon" chairs by Sigurd Ressel among the highlights
As interesting as the online session but with much more lighting and Empire and Victorian furniture as well as groups of mid century mixed with lots more art, china and glass. As usual many lots of sterling including hollowware and several flatware services are sold in this part of the sale and this auction is no exception. The following 200 lots are a continued mix of great smalls, furniture and art.
