THE ROBISON & KNOPS COLLECTIONS AT AUCTION

RSL Auction Co. is very pleased to announce that they will be selling the 30 year Mechanical Bank Collection of Ken & Madeline Knops, Poughkeepsie, New York and the 36 year Still Bank Collection of Bill & Jean Robison of Newark, Ohio. The Knops' bought their first mechanical bank, a Jolly N., in 1975. They joined the Mechanical Bank Collectors of America in 1976 and Ken became the President of that organization from 1981-1983. The Knops' collection is comprised of about 200 mechanical banks and a virtually complete collection of mechanical bank trade cards (twenty pieces). Some of the highlights are: A Freedman's Bank by Jerome Secor, an original Clown, Harlequin & Columbine Bank, Professor Pug Frog in Pristine Condition, Breadwinners Bank in Very Fine Condition, Bulldog Savings Bank in Near Mint Condition, Perfection Registering Bank in Excellent Condition, Calamity Bank in Excellent Condition, Springing Cat in Very Fine Condition and Near Mint Uncle Sam Bank. Bank trade cards include two Darktown Battery Cards, Picture Gallery, Watchdog Safe and Bad Accident, all extremely scarce or rare. This will be a great opportunity to acquire mechanical banks and trade cards for your collection which are both rare and in excellent condition. Bill Robison was the first person to have been President of both the Still Bank Collectors of America (1974-1976) and the Mechanical Bank Collectors of America (1979-1981). Over the years, the Robison Still Bank Collection grew. Offered for sale are approximately 500 still banks, 45 master wooden, brass and lead patterns primarily for A.C. Williams still banks. Several banks in the sale are unique; highlights include: San Gabriel Mission (1 of 2 known examples) in Mint Condition, Old South Church in Near Mint Condition (probably the best known example), Boston State House Small in Near Mint Condition, Possum on Stump cast iron, Prototype bank by A.C. Williams, an Alphabet Block in Excellent Condition, Kenton Gunboat in Pristine Condition and many rare and unique Safe Banks. The collections offered for sale are each lifetime collections built by two very well known and respected collecting families.
