The Best of David Byrd: Graphic Art

We are delighted to offer a selection of works by the iconic artist David Edward Byrd, an acclaimed American graphic artist, designer, illustrator and painter. In early 1968, after being recommended by schoolmate, Josh White of ?The Joshua Light Show?, David signed on as the exclusive poster and program designer for legendary The Fillmore East music auditorium. Between 1968 and 1971, he created posters for Jimi Hendrix; The Jefferson Airplane; The Who and their rock opera Tommy; Traffic & Iron Butterfly; Ravi Shankar; and The Grateful Dead. In 1969, David created the graphic for the Woodstock Music Festival and the equally legendary Rolling Stones 1969 November Tour. From 1991 to 2002, David was Senior Illustrator at Warner Brothers Creative Services, creating illustrations, backgrounds and style guides for all the Looney Tunes and Hanna?Barbera characters--and played a major role in the merchandising of those popular items. In the fall of 2012, Pratt Institute in NYC, celebrating its 125th anniversary, chose David as one of its 125 Art Icons of the Last 125 Years, with David representing the year 1968. David's graphic work is in the permanent collections of The Museum of Modern Art, NYC; The Museum of Rock, Cleveland; The Victoria & Albert, London; The Walker Institute, Minneapolis; and Le Musée des Arts Decoratif at The Louvre, Paris. And we are thrilled to offer his work to you.
