18th & 19th Century Glass & Lighting

The 50-year collection of the late Lois Hirschmann of Marion, MA, being sold to benefit the Sandwich Glass Museum's Endowment Fund. The second half of the late Dr. E. R. Eller's collection (former curator at the Carnegie Museum in Pittsburgh). A New Jersey estate collection formed in the 1940s and packed away for 40+ years! The cup plate collection of Pamela H. Christoffel. Lighting from the collection of Sam & Sara Sampson. PLUS OTHERS! Other highlights of the auction include a magnificent Sandwich ruby to colorless cut overlay 10? diameter compote; an important engraved scenic lantern celebrating the laying of the Trans-Continental railroad around 1866; several pieces of Leighton family (New England Glass Co.) glass with publication history; a previously unrecorded pressed salt embossed ?Wheeling Glass Works 1844? in the base; an unrecorded silvery mottled blue blown-molded inkwell that is closely related to the Sandwich inkstands and round pedestal (RP-1) pressed salts of the same color; a fine selection of 18th and 19th century English/Irish cut glass and wine glasses from a prominent New England family; silvered glass; flint EAPG including a collection of Diamond Point; plus much more. This promises to be one of the most important auctions of 18th and 19th century glass and lighting held in many years.
