Photography Auction Day 1

Our Oct 3rd Photography Auction features 200 Daguerreotypes and thermoplastic cases from a single 30-year collection from Rochester, New York, including outdoor scenes, a rare occupational of a young photographer, whole plates of a bride by Southworth & Hawes and possibly Henry Fox Talbot, inventor of the British collotype. Also included are Native Americans images, important political images of Abraham Lincoln, Henry Clay, and a Civil War chessboard with prominent figures, mid-century baseball, including a Brooklyn Dodgers team photograph with Jackie Robinson and the 1952 New York Yankees with Billy Martin, and an early photograph of the Boston Reds. Modern photographers featured in the sale are Edward Steichen, Andre Kertesz, Edward Sheriff Curtis and Arthur Rothstein.
