The Desire for Perfection

On February 8 at 11am, Freeman?s | Hindman is proud to offer The Desire for Perfection: A New York Collection of 20th Century Design. Thoughtfully assembled from the premises of some of most renowned galleries in Paris, London, and New York, the collection arcs through three quarters of a century of modern design. Ren? Prou?s groundbreaking sheet metal furniture leads into to the heights of late French Art Deco and the varied impulses of luxurious continental modernism. Of particular note is the complete dining room suite Maxime Old designed for an important residential commission outside Paris in 1947, and a richly lacquered sideboard produced by Maison Leleu during their era of important international projects. Among the period offerings, a selection of contemporary reissues, art, and modern pieces round out the sale.
