Art of the American West

More than 350 lots of Western and Native made art and objects comprise Moran?s last Art of the American West auction of 2023. Western bronzes Pueblo pottery from Acoma, Santa Clara, San Ildefonso, Anasazi, Zuni and Zia Pueblos represents a large portion of the auction. Navajo textiles including Germantown and late 19th century examples compliment the more contemporary offerings. Olaf Weighorst, Nicholas Firfires, Gordon Coutts, Arthur Best, Elbridge Burbank, Herman Hansen, and Marjorie Reed all work to convey life in the American West through their unique perspectives. Incredible examples of California basketry from the Yokuts, Mission, Tübatulabal, Panamint, Pomo and Hupa tribes represent more than 40 lots. Additionally, art, stone and wood carvings, basketry and objects from Northwest Coast and Inuit artists round out the sale.
