August Grandeur 2023 - Day Two

On Saturday, we present paintings by Childe Hassam, Thomas Paine, Winslow Homer, George Inness, David Teniers the Younger, George Luks, John French Sloan, Pierre Renoir, James Buttersworth, Frederic Church, Bernard Buffet, and others. Leading the folk art selection will be a monumental 19th c. carved and painted rooster by Wilhelm Schimmel and a full-bodied codfish weathervane; and the marine category will feature a diorama by Anne-Emmanuelle.Marpeau and two carved plaques by Clarke Voorhees, Jr. Day two is your source for early tea caddies, estate silver and select porcelain/pottery, and early stoneware items. As always, there is a unique variety of antique furniture, including tall case clocks. Rounding out the day will be selections of antiquities; Persian, Middle Eastern and Indian artifacts; early textiles; and oriental carpets, and a stunning 82-lot collection of Chinese antique exports lead by a Ming Dynasty gilt bronze seated Guanyin figure.
