Hindman's April 19th Post War and Contemporary Art auction is comprised of 131 carefully curated lots of paintings, sculptures and works on paper headlined by sparkling examples by Kerry James Marshall, Howardena Pindell and Miyoko Ito, stunningly exploring the respective artists personal narratives. Leading the charge of abstract paintings are colorful and captivating compositions by Alice Baber, McArthur Binion, Jack Bush, Gene Davis, Paul Jenkins, Jules Olitski, Minoru Onoda, Leon Polk Smith and Stanley Whitney. Ranging from table top to monumental, three-dimensional objects by Magdalena Abakanowicz, Arman, Claire Falkenstein, Bruce Nauman and Robert Rauschenberg have top billing in the sculpture session.
