Chinese and Vietnamese works of art

Day 1 of our 4-day sale presents Chinese and Vietnamese works of art. An important selection of Chinese taste porcelain will be presented, with highlights such as lot 32: the large relief-molded 'Twelve zodiac animals' vase, lot 109: the pair of He Xuren-marked vases or the lot 130: the Wang Bing Rong-style 'nine dragons' opium pipe. Following this, we'll present a selection of very fine Chinese porcelain for the Vietnamese market. From the collection of Thomas Ulbrich, we're offering a number of extremely rare examples. Lot 172: A Chinese 'Bleu de Hue' bowl for the Vietnamese market, Giáp Tí ?? mark, ca. 1804, is one of only two known examples, the only one outside of Vietnam. From Vietnam we move into the selection of cloisonné and enamel, where lots 263, the pair of Fangding censers and 269, the pair of moonflask vases, immediately catch the eye. Day 1 is concluded with the sale of snuff bottles, fine sculpture, Beijing glass, lacquerware and furniture. Two more lots to certainly not miss are the two impressive large sculptures, lots 374 and 375!
